Edit Answer for another minute OK - I am confused - maybe a terminology confusion. A septic pump commonly called a sewage grinder lift pump or lift station pump is used to lift sewage from a low point to a higher elevation to discharge to a higher level waste pipe. Normally used only in public sewage systems as they are VERY high maintenance. However, if you have a situation such as full-basement house with basement bathroom located in level terrain so you have to lift up to the septic tank or sewer pipe, or a septic tank and leach field higher than the basement, maybe you do need one. I doubt this is your case, as you obviously do not have one now. I would emphatically recommend a pedestal type rather than submersible, as it will generally last a lot longer and is a lot less messy to work on, as well as generally being cheaper. Be sure to get one with multi-story line powered plus battery backup alarm system, so if it fails an alarm goes off to warn you not only downstairs but upstairs as well.
Sump Pump Question
New Hampshire Vent I"m not a plumber but I"m a civil and mechanical engineer. Here"s my solution and the plumbers will probably tell you why it doesn"t meet code; but it will work. Remember that you are only extending the hose of your washing machine with a little extra pumping power. Put the sump one of the smaller Grainger models for example; I would pick the 4RK74 on the floor beside your washing machine. Run your washing machine discharge hose into the sump.

Last week our septic system alarm went off and we had water around the lid in the yard. The local septic guy came out and said the screen had collapsed over the pump and the screen, the pump and the floats were ruined and had to be replaced. The electrical panel was not up to code, even though the former owners told us they had the system completely replaced a few years ago with the latest type of pressurized system.
The whole thing cost us over two thousand dollars including trenching out to the septic system from the panel in the garage and replacing several pipes in the lawn sprinklers in the process. The septic guy said that the drainfield may need replacing due to a wet spot in the lawn for an additional three or four thousand. He did a little digging with an auger, but said he could not tell exactly where the drainfield was to assess its condition.

Sound advice from Mike here, he"s bringing up some valid points. I just wanted to chime in with some thoughts here. I think your contractor left the drain out because of the proximity of the sump pump. They were probably counting on you simply extending the washer drain hose right in to the pit. Comments 72 Typical costs: The traditional dig-up-and-replace method requires excavating a long, deep trench or trenches to remove the old pipes and install new ones. Trenchless sewer replacement uses minimal digging with one of several methods -- pipe-bursting, in which a machine breaks and pushes out the old pipe while pulling through and installing a new pipe in its place. Smaller projects generally cost more per foot.
Traditional dig-and-replace sewer work can require a lot of invasive excavation and result in a patched-up yard, but can be a relatively simple project; an excavator digs up the old pipes, new ones are installed and the trench is refilled. A California plumber provides a video of replacing old clay piping using traditional methods[ 1 ]. Trenchless methods are usually faster than the traditional approach, but require at least some digging, usually at each end of the existing pipe and anywhere in-between where it bends or turns.
A video by the manufacturer US Trenchless illustrates the pipe-bursting process[ 2 ] while one by a New Hampshire plumbing company explains sewer pipe relining[ 3 ]. Sewer pipe installation or replacement generally requires a permit; check with the local building department or make sure the contractor is handling all needed government approvals and paperwork. Ask detailed questions about what condition the yard will be in when the project is completed.
Shopping for sewer line replacement: Replacing a private sewer line can be done by a plumber, sewer contractor or general contractor; get a variety of quotes because they may differ in both price and available equipment. The City of Portland, OR, provides an overview for installing a private sewer line[ 4 ]. Check with the sewer department to see if it maintains a list of local contractors or, for larger projects, search for local members of the Plumbing Heating Cooling Contractors Association[ 5 ].

These could of been made by a sub-contracter or later Biolytix themselves. One system I rebuilt had an excess of peat 2 wheelbarrows. They were fitted the old alarm and the small air switch with a air accumulator a small white cannister in air system. But we have others that were rebuilt twice.
The Everhard tanks used by Biolytix were changed because the was discontinued due to a change in the Australian Standards at that time.

Do it yourself instructions: Cut the downspout above where it enters the ground and discard the piece you cut off. Put a cap on the pipe that goes into the ground.

We got it out, now the clog is much worse. We tried an air pump plunger, but we can"t get a seal on the overflow drain so it keeps going there at the T junction. What should we do? One common problem that can rear its ugly head when it comes to converting a basement into a living or workspace is the fact that subterranean living spaces are susceptible to flooding.

For instance, you should never drive over the septic tank area or drainfield, nor place any permanent construction over the tank. You should also never put oil or grease, platic objects, strong chemicals, cooking fat, hair clippings, and many other materials down sinks, toilets, or drains. The sump basin collects groundwater rising up from beneath the foundation, then the basin pumps this water up a discharge line and out of the house. Sewage leaking from a broken household sewer line may seep into groundwater and eventually infiltrate the sump basin, too.
